11 Romance Books with a Wedding as a Plot Point

I love a good wedding-focused romance book. I don’t mean marriage of convenience; rather, the main couple is showing up for a family member, a good friend, or a client and the wedding is a part of the story. I don’t know why, but it gets me every time. There’s naturally the emotions of a day dedicated to romance, you’ll encounter some inevitable chaos, and a wedding is a high-stakes event with a clear end date. This means, a wedding is an ideal backdrop for a love story. Here are 11 you should check out if you’re also interested in a story filled with tension, true love, and a little tulle. 😉

The Secret Bridesmaid by Katy Birchall

An undercover bridesmaid who gets paid to make sure weddings go off without a hitch is hired for a society wedding that quickly turns chaotic. I loved the female friendship aspects, and the quintessential Brit humor had me laughing out loud.

The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce

If a second chance romance doesn’t have this level of yearning, then I don’t want it. From the moment the two characters meet on the page, we get a sense for their complicated past. The forced proximity brings all of those unresolved feelings to the surface, and it’s impossible to stop reading.

The Half of It by Theresa Christine

What June intends to be a simple, straightforward work trip to Ireland to meet her half sister quickly becomes complicated with unexpected discoveries, including a handsome Irishman who just so happens to be best friends with said half sister. Expect forced proximity, road trips, and a yearn-y cinnamon roll MMC.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

CLo really know how to balance humor and swoons. It’s an enemies-to-lovers, fake dating romance set in paradise. No- to low-spice if I recall correctly, so it’s a great option if you’re looking for something without a lot of spicy scenes.

Forget Me Not by Julie Soto

I ate this second chance romance UP! A wedding planner and a grumpy florist with a complicated past work together on a wedding, and let me just say, the yearning and chemistry in this one is something else. 🥵

No Rules by Stephanie Louise

A rockstar wedding with two notorious players and a cute, curious bridesmaid. An ultra-spicy, short read that will have you living out your bridesmaid gets laid fantasies.

The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa

I’m always down to read a wedding planner romance, and this book features a planner who was left at the altar. There’s lots of drama and tension in this one—the love interest is her former fiance’s brother!—and I really liked how the characters navigated their messy past to make a future together.

Off the Map by Trish Doller

You know I love a good romance book set in Ireland… and I really liked the initial spark these two main characters have. The story is full of heart and wanderlust, and it explores what it means to find home—both literally and emotionally—on the way to a wedding.

Love and Paklava by Alyssa Jarrett

This one comes out June 2025, and as a former SF resident, I’m always excited for a Northern California romance that whisks me back to the city. Opposites attract between the guarded and grumpy FMC and the burly baker MMC who’s more than happy to be patient and break down the walls she’s so carefully built.

Powerless by Elsie Silver

Small town, childhood friends to lovers—say no more! Elsie Silver writes books with wonderfully flawed characters and chemistry like you wouldn’t believe. I adore the woman starting over trope, and is there any better representation of this than a woman sneaking out of her own wedding?

Love Lettering by Kate Clayborn

This is a bit of a bonus rec, since it’s a wedding that actually brings the two main characters together. If Kate Clayborn writes it, then I will read it—and this one is probably my favorite from her!
