Books I Read in April 2025
April was a great reading month for me. I had 4 solid reads, plus I ended the month with a few books in progress that I was really loving. Here’s what I read this month!
The Irish Goodbye by Amy Ewing
Obviously I will read any of the contemporary romance books set in Ireland out there! This world was just a really fun one to live in. I think what made this book so wonderful was the character development. Both Cordelia and Niall have a lot more than meets the eye, and that made getting to know them and see them fall for each other an absolute treat.
The Secret Bridesmaid by Katy Birchall
I’m starting to understand that I’m a sucker for a romance book that has a wedding storyline. Sophie, our FMC, is a professional bridesmaid, and things get complicated when she’s hired by royalty to help out a prickly bride who wants nothing to do with her. The friendship aspect here was one of the highlights of the book, and while it’s technically a romance with an HEA, it’s much more women’s fiction imho (which you know I love!!). Lots of British humor, too!
Is She Really Going Out with Him? by Sophie Cousens
I’ve read other Sophie Cousens books, and this is definitely one of my favorites from her. I’m not often picking up single mother romances, but I honestly loved the way the FMC, Anna, interacted with her ex-husband (and his girlfriend). The characters just felt so real, but Cousens still throws in delightful humor on every page. The romance was well-developed, and it was fun to watch the love between the two main characters unfold.
All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata
I needed a good audiobook to listen to while packing and moving, and this was a great choice. Mariana Zapata books are often longer than your typical romance (we’re talking in the 500 page range), and the romance doesn’t blossom until halfway or later through the book, making them delicious slow burns. It was really nice to spend time getting to know the characters and becoming fully invested in their lives that I was rooting for the romance wholeheartedly. I loved Aurora as the main character, especially that she was in her 30s (it made the 10ish year age gap between them seem much more balanced). My first Mariana Zapata book, but certainly not my last!
