Books I Read in October 2025
Although I am still a bit behind on my yearly goal for the year, I had a pretty good October reading-wise. I have a few other books that I am still in the midst of reading, but here are the books I finished and wanted to share!
Dating After the End of the World by Jeneva Rose
I am always interested in reading zombie apocalypse romances, and while this one was dark at moments, it was also incredibly funny. Casey must return to her doomsday prepper father’s home after doomsday actually arrives, and the forced proximity vibes between her and her childhood bully, Blake, are ~vibing.~ I am not a huge fan of the childhood bully trope, but the book focused primarily on the present, and I felt like we got some good character backstory on why he behaved the way he did as a teen. This one had gore and humor, heart and some spice! It was kind of like Shaun of the Dead but a romance, which I liked!
If Not for My Baby by Kate Golden
I was immediately attracted to the gorgeous cover of this book—I mean!! I really enjoyed the story and the writing of this one. It’s evidently heavily based off of Hozier, which I probably would have deduced on my own, so there are some blurry lines there of what is okay to publish and what should remain fanfic. That said, as a reader who gets sucked into a story pretty easily, I liked this and thought from a storytelling perspective it was great. Sometimes you just want a tall, handsome man with an accent to be obsessed with you, and that’s what this book delivers.
Soul Searching by Lyla Sage
This one was a perfect October read for someone who’s not into paranormal romance or super spooky stuff. It had a little spook factor but was still solidly in the contemporary romance camp. I absolutely loved the main character of this book, Collins, and you know I’m a sucker for a small-town romance. This was just an overall pleasant read that I was always excited to pick up and finished over the course of a few days. I’ll definitely be checking out the next one in the series.
