Books I Read in January 2026
I started out my year tackling my TBR in a “quality over quantity” mindset, so I only read two books this month—but both were quite good! I’m excited to share them with you.
I’m Theresa, and I write emotional romance books set in dreamy destinations. You can snag Match Made in the Maldives, my brother’s best friend novella set in paradise, for free when you sign up for my newsletter—get your copy!
One Day in December by Josie Silver
Josie Silver books are my catnip! The FMC and MMC lock eyes at a bus stop and have an instant connection, but by the time they actually reconnect, he is dating her best friend. The book unfolds over years throughout the relationships of these characters, and it is complicated, heartbreaking, sweet, and raw. This book won’t be for everyone due to emotional cheating, but if you like books that lean a bit women’s fiction and have messy characters making sometimes questionable choices (and paying for them), then you should check this one out.
Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone
After Bastone’s Ready or Not made me rethink my feelings on the surprise pregnancy trope, I was excited to pick this one up. I think my favorite part of this book was the FMC’s voice. The book is written in first person POV, and Lenny, the FMC, is so funny despite the grief she battles. Miles, the MMC, would do anything for her, so it was especially swoony to see their romance develop.
